Registration FAQ
What are my Membership Benefits?
All members receive the same basic membership benefits as outlined in our Bylaws (pdf) and Policies. Here they are in a nutshell:
- Participation in the Sakura-Con conference—including not only attendance but, as space allows, the opportunity to provide actual exhibition of fan content which comprises over 50% of our content.
- Nomination rights—every member, regardless of if they pay a pro-rated or full membership fee has these rights.
- Receipt of our Bi-Annual Member's Newsletter.
- Inclusion in Members discounts at ANCEA/Sakura-Con sponsored or partnered events—as we are able to obtain them—examples have included the Annual Japan Night with the Seattle Mariners, the Seattle International Children's Festival, the Annual Sushi Sake Fest with the non profit Densho, and discounts at participating local restaurants (badge required).
- Free admission to ANCEA ancillary events such as our Annual Halloween Party/Volunteer recruitment and Annual volunteer BBQ, not otherwise open to the public.
- Inclusion in Members Mailing list which supports the Seattle Arts and Cultural community by announcing Asian cultural/arts events in the greater Puget Sound area-partners have and do include/d the Consulate General of Japan in Seattle, JAS, and The Asia Pacific Cultural Center-all of whom also participate in our event-and other arts, cultural and entertainment news.
Minors/Parent Permission/Guardian
Most questions regarding minors can be answered by reading the Minors Policy.
I am turning 18 before the convention but am 17 now do I need a parent permission form?
If you will be 18 before the convention you will be registered as an adult and do not need a parent permission form.
I will turn 18 on Saturday or Sunday at con can I attend as an adult?
You will need to get a minor membership badge if you pick it up before your birthday. Then you can come back to registration on your birthday with state/province/country issued photo ID showing date of birth to get an adult membership badge.
Do I need a parent permission form if I am coming with a relative?
If anyone other than your parent or legal guardian is bringing you, you need a Parent Permission form even if you are related to the person you are attending with.
Does my parent/legal guardian or at con guardian sign the parent permission form?
Your parent or legal guardian must sign the Parent Permission form.
My mom & dad don't want to go to the convention can I attend alone if I have a note from them?
No, if you are under 18 you must attend the convention with an adult.
Do I need to register my child under five?
Yes, although there is no charge for children under five they still need to be registered and will receive a free membership badge.
Pricing
Is the price based on age now or age at the time of the convention?
Pricing is based on age at time of the convention.
Badges
Do I have to pick up my pre-registration membership badge on Thursday?
No, they may be picked up anytime registration is open; being able to pick up a badge on Thursday is a bonus for people who pre-register.
May I purchase a full weekend membership, Friday Membership, or Saturday Membership on Thursday?
No. Registration is only open on Thursday for those who have pre-registered.
May I buy a Saturday-only membership badge on Friday?
No. You may only purchase day memberships badges on the day that it is valid.
Refunds/Transfer
Do you offer refunds?
No, ANCEA/Sakura-Con does not offer refunds or transfers of any kind.
Filling out the registration form. / How do I register?
Do I have to put my real name in for my name?
Yes, the name in our database needs to match your state/province/country issued photo ID with date of birth. If you use a nickname we will not be able to verify your membership. You may submit your nickname for the badge name.
Do I have to fill out all the lines on the registration form?
Yes, ANCEA/Sakura-Con is a non profit organization. We are required by law to have complete registration information on all our members.
I am buying a badge for a friend, but I don?t know their address or date of birth can I put in my info?
No, we need accurate information so that we may match each individual with their membership registration. Please find out your friend?s registration information before registering.
How do I get my membership badge?
Do I need photo ID to pick up my membership badge?
If you are 18 or older you must present a state/province/country issued photo ID showing name and date of birth*. If you are under 18 you do not have to present ID, but must be with either your parent or the guardian named on your parent permission form.
*Date of birth must be written in numbers readable by English speakers—1234567890
Can I get my membership badge mailed to me?
We do not mail out membership badges, they must be picked up at Sakura-Con.
May I pick up badges for other people?
No, you may only pick up your own membership badge.
How long will the wait be to pick up my membership badge?
We do not know. Wait time varies due to the number of individuals that show up at any one time. We try to keep the wait time to a minimum.
Am I registered yet?
How often do you update the pre-registration list?
Updates to the Pre-Registration List vary throughout the year. The last update to the list is at the top of the pre-registration page. If you have received your confirmation email you have been registered even if you do not see your name on the list.
I entered my info and clicked register am I registered now?
No, you are not registered until we have processed your payment. If you are trying to register before a price increase you must make a Paypal payment or mail in your payment by the cut off date. Entering your info online does not extend the deadline.
Payment
I accidentally clicked pay twice when using Paypal, how do I fix this?
Please notify us at Registration and we will refund the overpayment. Please do not cancel your payment.
